What is considered an insured event?
An insured event under OSGOR is the occurrence of the employer's civil liability for harm caused to the life or health of an employee in the performance of labour or official duties.
What should the employer do?
Upon receiving information about an insured event, the employer is obliged to notify the insurer immediately, but no later than three working days.
It is also necessary to ensure an investigation of the circumstances of the occurrence with the mandatory participation of representatives of the authorised body and the insurer.
The employer must provide the documents necessary for determining the insurance compensation.
Procedure
1. Provide the necessary assistance to the employee
First of all, measures provided for by legislation to preserve the life and health of the employee are taken.
2. Record the occurrence
It is necessary to draw up documents and conduct an investigation of the accident in the established manner.
3. Notify the insurance company
The insurer must be notified immediately, but no later than three working days from the moment the employer became aware of the insured event.
4. Prepare documents
To apply for insurance compensation, documents confirming the fact of the insured event and the amount of harm are provided.
5. Determination of the degree of loss of ability to work
The necessary examination is carried out in the manner established by legislation, with the participation of the relevant bodies.
What documents are needed for payment?
The law provides for a written demand for insurance compensation with the attachment of the established list of documents. Among them are the insurance policy, documents on the insured event and the amount of harm, a medical certificate on loss of ability to work, and in the event of death — documents on death and the right to compensation.
