What cover may be included
OSGOR insures the employer’s civil liability for harm to an employee’s life and health in the course of work. The law treats such harm as including the financial expression of harm linked to permanent loss of ability to work or to the employee’s death if the contract and the law provide for it.
This is not voluntary medical insurance and not personal accident cover for the employee. Do not treat these risks as covered automatically. Limits, exclusions, and the claims procedure are set by the contract.
How to confirm the terms
- agree the workforce and staff categories;
- review sums insured and limits;
- discuss exclusions and the notice procedure;
- set the terms in the contract before staff start work.
