An incident with dangerous goods can lead to a threat to human life and health, damage to property or the environment.
If such an event occurs, first of all it is necessary to take reasonable and available measures to prevent and reduce damage.
1. Ensure safety
In the event of an accident, it is necessary to take available measures to save people and prevent further spread of damage.
2. Notify the competent services
Depending on the nature of the occurrence, it is necessary to contact the relevant emergency and competent authorities.
3. Notify the insurer
The policyholder is obliged to notify the insurer of the insured event immediately, but no later than three working days from the moment they became aware of the event.
4. Keep documents
It is necessary to keep documents and information that allow determining:
- the causes of the occurrence;
- the circumstances of the incident;
- the nature of the damage;
- the amount of harm caused;
- the expenses for preventive measures.
5. If a claim is filed
If a demand or statement of claim for compensation for harm is filed against the carrier, they are obliged to notify the insurer within three working days from the moment they became aware of it.
6. Review of the insured event
The amount of insurance compensation is determined by the insurer or an independent expert on the basis of investigation materials, court decisions, and other documents containing data on the harm caused.
Payment period
If the event is recognised as insured, the insurer makes the payment within 30 days from the day of receiving the application for payment and all necessary documents confirming the insured event.
